What Our Free Site Audit Checks — and Why Each Check Matters

We offer a free audit at codifyany.com/audit: enter a website address, and about a minute later you get a scored report. Tools like this often feel like a black box, and black boxes invite fair suspicion — so this post opens ours up. Here is exactly what the audit checks, why each item matters, and what the results do and do not mean.

Pillar one — Web Presence

These are the foundations that everything else sits on.

- Technical health: HTTPS enforced, server response time, no long redirect chains, and the page actually returning successfully
- Crawlability: robots.txt and sitemap present, no accidental "do not index" instructions (a surprisingly common self-inflicted wound), and whether your content is visible to crawlers without JavaScript
- Social and brand presence: the tags that control how your links look when shared — title, description, preview image, favicon
- Safety: a Google Safe Browsing check, because a flagged site loses everything else by default

Failures here are usually quick to fix and disproportionately damaging to leave, which is why they get their own pillar.

Pillar two — SEO

The classic search signals, measured the way Google's own tooling measures them.

- On-page signals: title and meta description present and sensibly sized, one H1, logical heading order, alt text on images, and enough actual text content to rank
- Core Web Vitals: real performance data via Google PageSpeed Insights — how fast the page loads and how stable it is on a phone
- Technical SEO: canonical tags, structured data that parses without errors, and schema types that qualify for rich results

Pillar three — GEO, or AI visibility

This is the newest area and the reason many people run the audit: can AI systems read, understand, and safely cite your website?

- E-E-A-T signals: visible author or business information, an about page, reachable contact details, privacy and terms pages — the corroborating evidence that you are a real operation
- AI-readable structure: Organization and FAQPage schema, name-address-phone data for local businesses, and whether your brand and offer are clear in the first hundred words of the page
- Citation and content clarity: reading level, definition-style sentences, and question-style headings — the formats AI systems find easiest to quote — plus external signals like backlink authority

How to read your scores

Every check returns pass, warn, or fail, and the pillar scores roll those up. A warn means "works, but you are leaving value on the table"; a fail is costing you now. Most sites we see score respectably on classic SEO and poorly on the GEO pillar — not because the owners did anything wrong, but because most of these practices simply did not matter until AI search arrived.

What the audit cannot tell you

Honesty section. The audit reads one page at a snapshot in time. It cannot tell you whether you will rank for a given search, how much revenue a fix is worth, or what AI assistants are currently saying about you. It also cannot see work your competitors are doing. It is a diagnostic, not a prophecy — a well-informed to-do list, ordered by what machines actually read.

Why it is free

No mystery: some people who see their report ask us to do the work, and that is how the tool pays for itself. But the report is yours either way, and every item on it can be fixed by any competent developer — including you. Run it on your own site, then run it on your loudest competitor. The comparison is usually educational.
